4K/Ultra HD TVs are ubiquitous and are becoming even more popular by the day. These TVs owe their popularity to the tantalizing and fascinating pictures they can produce. With a high dynamic range and a wide color spectrum technology, these revolutionary home appliances can turn your abode from a dull, dingy room to a bright and inviting home.
There is a caveat, though. The fact a TV has a 4K resolution, wide color spectrum technologies and HDR capabilities does not always imply it is an amazing and brilliant TV. Some TVs don’t get HDR right, which does, of course, ruin the experience. Thankfully, from examining each of the 4K TVs and listening to users’ experiences, we came with a definitive list of the best 4K TVs you can invest in:
Samsung KS9500 Range
The Samsung KS9500 takes its place in the pantheon of Samsung Company’s most appealing masterpieces if the explosively rich and gorgeously nuanced colors of this TV are anything to go by. Both the sound and the pictures are extremely good and jaw-dropping. It can produce these amazing pictures and sounds thanks to Samsung’s one-of-a-kind Quantum Dot color technology and top-of-the-line backlighting system. The only downside is that the extreme contrast from the LCD screen can cause backlight clouding around bright objects. It also doesn’t have 3D support. But everything else is at its best that it is easy to forgive this glitch.
LG OLED E6 Series
LG’s groundbreaking OLEDE6 series is the talk of town. It is a vast improvement from previous OLEDs. It combines OLED’s ability to make every pixel in its screen to emit its light and color with a significant leap in brightness lacking in previous OLED models. Moreover, the HDR-friendly quantum leap in brightness has been achieved without sacrificing OLED’s signature black level reproduction. The TV is ultra-thin in design. The cons of the TV include missing details in extremely bright areas.
If you love lifelike pictures, then this is the TV. With the aid of its Triluminos wide color spectrum technology and strong contrast performance, the TV produces both HDR and standard pictures in a nuanced and balanced way combining the huge screen size to mesmerize viewers and wow listeners.
The downside is that it occasionally causes backlight clouding.
Panasonic DX802 Range
DX802s may not produce the most spectacular 4K HDR pictures, but they are good enough. It also packs enough brightness to give off High Dynamic Range pictures. The colors come with ease and exceptional finesse. This aids the DX802s to deliver lots of impact from their native 4K resolution.
Lastly, the TV comes in a very beautiful design where the screen hangs from two easel-style legs.
The downside with this TV is that it has some backlight issues, and its native contrast isn’t exactly the best.
Samsung KS7000 Range
Samsung KS7000, despite its modest pricing, still can meet the grueling specification defined by Ultra HD Premium; meaning, it has enough contrast, color, brightness and resolution to give off an unshakeable high dynamic range performance. Even with standard dynamic range sources, the TV pictures still look brilliant. The only glitches are that it has no 3D support and occasionally suffers backlight striping and clouding.
Panasonic DX902 Series
These sets deliver a high picture quality that is second only to Samsung’s KS9500 TVs. It features an amazing LCD Panel technology designed to help it nail a high dynamic range picture quality. Unlike other sets, and to its credit, the set suffers backlight clouding around HDR objects less often thanks to the LCD Panel technology.
LG OLED B6 Series
The cheapest way to enjoy LG 2016 OLED TV technology is through the purchase of an OLEDB6 series TV. It offers gorgeous and contrast-rich pictures and comes with a spectacularly thin design. The downside is that there is detail clipping in bright areas, and there is an occasional brief color noise.
The TV features an excellent backlight control, and it produces probably one of the most spectacular and immersive pictures that the TV world has to offer. It also offers users access to scores of apps available through the Google’s Android TV smart platform.
Sony XD9305 Series
It features Slim Backlight Drive technology that helps it to produce the best 4K and HDR pictures in 2016. It also has the epic Triluminos technology that gives it the ability for amazingly good color handling. The brand’s X1 processing system ensures both upscaled HD and native 4K sources look beautifully detailed and sharp. The only problem is that the Android TV interface isn’t very slick.
Panasonic DX750 range
This set gives an amazing all-round picture quality as well as a friendly smart TV interface. However, there are some backlight concerns and the HDR experience isn’t the best. However, for its price, it is still a good bargain.
